According to a report in Time magazine, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy formally left his position today. The report says he told the USPS Board of Governors that today would be his last day on the job. He had previously announced his intention to quit, but hadn’t given an end date.
He named Deputy Postmaster General Doug Tulino (right) to take over until the Board names a permanent replacement.
It’s unclear whether his departure is connected to the agreement he made to allow Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency examine the USPS to cut costs and remove bureaucratic red tape.
It is believed the USPS Board continues its search for a successor. We will pass along further details as we hear about them.
