Support ACMA’s Industry Action Funds
You can assist with specific areas of ACMA’s program of work by providing much-needed resources dedicated to a particular issue. Our Industry Action Funds are segregated accounts held by ACMA, made available as a “war chest” to deploy on specific issues that impact direct and remote marketers and their suppliers — eliminating the time and effort needed to raise funds in the heat of battle.
Please note that your contributions to ACMA Action Funds will not be used for any general ACMA “corporate purposes” other than a 5% service fee on funds raised and administered. Non-ACMA members are always eligible to make one-off donations. Such contributions support our network of consultants on whom we depend to advocate for the interests of direct and remote marketers and their suppliers. These funds are only used to pay for out-of-pocket expenses of the specific issues outlined below. Large volume donors may be considered for Steering Committees of each Fund. Click here for more information on how the funds are distributed and used.
Looking to support the ACMA?
Post-Wayfair Tax Action Fund
Support ACMA’s policy positions on tax matters to activate the industry, build coalitions sympathetic to direct and remote marketers on sales/use tax collection, engage in compliance and reporting, work to get favorable clarifying federal legislation passed, document the cost of changes arising out of a change to longstanding tax law and force taxing jurisdictions to be reasonable in their demands. By coordinating an industry-wide push for Constitutional protections to interstate commerce, we demonstrate the urgent need for legislation. ACMA also helps establish guardrails going forward (through litigation when necessary), and we work to stop overly aggressive state actions that are wasteful, redundant or unnecessarily complicate compliance.
Privacy Action Fund
The California Consumer Privacy Act, which took effect in January 2020, has had a long-reaching national impact on remote marketers. To stop other states from imposing copycat laws of their own, federal legislation is necessary. ACMA needs funding beyond just member dues to fight this. We need to hire lawyers, researchers and other outside experts as the privacy fight intensifies. Please consider making a donation of significance (beyond your annual dues) to our Privacy Action Fund. As with our other funds, non-ACMA members are always eligible to make one-off donations.
Postal Action Fund
With the 10-year USPS Delivering for America plan in full swing, crippling and more frequent postage increases are threatening our industry. The Postal Regulatory Commission approved biannual increases above the CPI, with more on the way unless we can change it. ACMA needs the resources to continue mounting a credible defense of a rate cap and to ensure transparency and predictability, while countering false claims that catalogs and other mailed marketing materials are not profitable for the USPS. This fund helps ACMA hire lawyers, lobbyists, economists and other professionals to support our staff and member work.
How Funds Are Used
Money from each fund may be used for hiring lobbyists, economists, attorneys, consultants, public relations or government relations personnel; conducting research or other surveys; supporting coalitions or other groups allied to our positions; paying for advertising aimed at influencing elected officials or other stakeholders; organizing grassroots outreach, education or advocacy in support of public policy positions; and for other tactics favorable to ACMA policy positions. Money raised will not be used to support any political candidate or political party; this money must come from a Political Action Committee. Five percent of the funds collected are paid to ACMA as the administrator of these war chests.
