The US Postal Service on April 9th filed with the Postal Regulatory Commission its case for rate changes on monopoly mail products to take effect July 12th.
- Marketing Mail overall: +4.803%
- Marketing Mail flats: +6.975%
- Marketing Mail Carrier Route: +7.219%
- Marketing Mail letters: +5.055%
- First Class stamp: +4 cents to 82 cents
As anticipated, the USPS will let the 10% Catalog Insights Promotion expire on June 30th, to be replaced by a catalog incentive of a $0.001 per-piece discount for mailers that identify catalogs in the mailing statements – effectively reinstating the same incentive offered in 2024.
In the rate filing, the USPS simply states that it “has decided not to continue the Catalog Insights Promotion after it expires on June 30, 2026, and therefore seeks to restore the previous $0.001 discount for the Catalog Incentive with no other changes in terms.” Postal officials haven’t provided any specific reasons for discontinuing the catalog promotion other than that typically postal promotions are for limited periods only. When complete, the catalog promo will have run for 10 months.
The ACMA will continue to work with senior postal leadership to develop more beneficial long-term solutions for catalog mailers. Click here for more details from the USPS announcement.
