On September 1st in Jay, Vermont, a group of Vermont-based business leaders along with the state’s junior Senator Peter Welch held a roundtable meeting expressing concerns over President Trump’s 50% tariff on imported Canadian goods.
The panel included ACMA member Vermont Country Store President Kara Soulia. She said that during her conversation with Sen. Welch (pictured), “I emphasized the urgent need for Washington to refocus its efforts on repairing relationships with our Canadian partners and shared our support for continued efforts to drive meaningful change.”
During the roundtable, Sen. Welch called the tariff “absolutely outrageous.” President Trump “has put a bull’s eye on the back of the, Vermont’s economy. It’s unconscionable, and it’s wrong.”
